Supporting a Calm Family Routine

My Story
I still remember my own delivery experience when I had a C-section at the age of 44. I was very fortunate that my late mother came to stay with me for three months. She took care of me, cooked nourishing meals, helped with massage, and cared for my newborn daughter.
Her support gave me enormous emotional comfort and helped me recover both physically and mentally. That experience changed my life and shaped how I understand postpartum care.
Today, I aim to provide families with thoughtful postpartum support that brings comfort, nourishment, and confidence into the home during the important transition after birth.
About My Work
I am a postpartum doula and newborn care specialist based in Rowland Heights, California, and I am available to travel when transportation, accommodation, adequate rest hours, and days off are provided.
I provide in-home postpartum recovery and newborn support for families during the important early months after birth.
With over 30 years of experience across healthcare, wellness, hospitality, and culinary services, I bring a structured, calm, and thoughtful approach to postpartum care.
My work focuses on supporting the mother’s recovery, establishing newborn routines, preparing nourishing postpartum meals, and helping parents gain confidence in caring for their newborn.
My Approach
I integrate traditional Chinese postpartum recovery practices with modern Western postpartum and newborn care principles, providing culturally attuned care for families from diverse backgrounds.
I support not only newborn care, but also early development through interaction, communication, tummy time, gentle movement, and structured daily routines.
I observe feeding patterns, sleep patterns, behavior, and development, and guide parents in understanding their baby while building structured routines for communication, play, feeding, and sleep.
My goal is to create a calm, structured, and supportive home environment so both mother and baby can recover, grow, and adjust smoothly during the postpartum period.

Parent Education Note
Newborn babies grow and develop through feeding, sleeping, interaction, and movement. Observing your baby’s patterns helps parents understand the baby’s needs, build routines, and support healthy development.

Postpartum nutrition is an important part of recovery and breastfeeding. I prepare nourishing meals based on Chinese postpartum recovery nutrition combined with balanced Western nutrition principles.
Meals are designed to support:

I guide parents on bonding, interaction, and communication with their baby, including reading baby cues, talking and singing to the baby, tummy time, gentle interaction, and establishing daily routines that support emotional security and early development.
I support mothers who wish to establish exclusive breastfeeding by assisting with feeding routines, positioning, pumping schedules, postpartum nutrition, and adequate rest. I also observe feeding patterns and help families build daily routines that support successful breastfeeding and newborn development.

Baby Evaluation Section
When Evaluating a Baby, We Look At:
When a baby’s milk intake changes, we look at the whole baby, not just the milk volume. We observe weight gain, diaper output, sleep patterns, behavior, and overall development.
Sometimes babies drink less due to developmental changes, routine changes, growth spurts, or adjusting to a new caregiver. As long as the baby is growing well, sleeping well, and behaving normally, we continue to monitor and support feeding and routines.
We observe the whole baby, not just feeding volume.
We look at growth, sleep, behavior, development, and routines to support healthy feeding and development.
My work is not only about feeding the baby.
It is about supporting the mother’s recovery, establishing newborn routines, observing development, guiding parents, and creating a calm and structured home environment.

I interact with babies through smiling, talking, singing, and daily communication.
If requested by the family, I can communicate with the baby in different languages to support early language exposure and communication development.
This helps babies develop early social interaction, listening skills, emotional bonding, and communication awareness, supporting a happy, responsive, and engaged baby.
Languages

Yes. Newborn babies recognize and build trust with their primary caregivers through voice, smell, touch, and the way they are held.
How Newborn Babies Recognize Their Caregivers
Newborn babies recognize people mainly through the following ways:
1. Voice
• Babies hear their mother’s voice while still in the womb.
• After birth, they often become calmer when they hear familiar voices.
• Some babies calm down when a particular caregiver talks to them.
2. Smell
• Babies can recognize their mother’s smell.
• They also remember the smell of people who hold them frequently.
3. Touch / The Way They Are Held
• Everyone holds a baby slightly differently.
• Babies remember the way they feel most comfortable when being held.
4. The Person Who Feeds Them
• Babies often feel very secure with the person who feeds them regularly.
5. Heartbeat / Body Warmth
• Babies like to be held close to a person’s chest because it feels similar to being in the womb.
How Babies Show That They Recognize Their Caregivers
Common signs that a baby recognizes a caregiver include:
• Calms down when hearing a particular person’s voice
• Falls asleep more easily when held by a certain person
• Appears more relaxed when held by a familiar caregiver
• Looks more focused when seeing a familiar face
• Becomes slightly unsettled when held by someone new
• Cries less when held by a familiar caregiver
• Calms down quickly when held by the person who feeds them
• Responds better when a particular person soothes them
• Some babies recognize people by smell
These are all signs of early attachment development.
Summary:
Although newborn babies cannot clearly recognize faces yet, they recognize caregivers through voice, smell, touch, and the way they are held. Babies often feel more secure with familiar caregivers and may calm down more easily when held or spoken to by the person who cares for them regularly. These responses are part of early bonding and attachment development and are important for the baby’s emotional security and development.

Professional Qualifications
Care Philosophy
I believe postpartum care is not only about caring for the baby, but also about supporting the mother’s recovery, nutrition, emotional well-being, and creating a calm and structured home environment. When the mother is well rested, well nourished, and emotionally supported, the baby will naturally do well.
My role is to support families in establishing routines, understanding their baby’s cues, and creating a smooth transition into parenthood. I aim to provide calm, structured, and thoughtful support so that both mother and baby can thrive during the postpartum period.
